Hawaii News Now reports (https://bit.ly/1MZ4AEz ) that 32-year-old Bronson Sardinha, of Honolulu, was arrested after the incident late Saturday night. The former New York Yankees player faces charges of assaulting a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

Police say they had responded to a report of a man and woman fighting in the parking lot of a Waipio restaurant. Sardinha is accused of head-butting an officer who intervened.

The 49-year-old officer suffered minor injuries.

Sardinha played for the Yankees in 2007 and retired from minor league baseball in 2011.
